Indigenous Craft
Indigenous art covers a broad diversity of artforms and cultural activities including: visual arts (works on canvas, printmaking, bark, ceramics); these also include revived traditional crafts and new concepts applied to wooden objects and carving, basket weaving, beads and seeds, sculpture, jewellery, clothing, fabric screen printing and weaving.
Gecko Gallery carries a wide range of traditional and contemporary objects made by Indigenous artists including the woven basketry produced by the amazing Tjampi weavers and beautiful creative forms made from native seeds made as body adornments and small memorabilia such as the finely carved boab nuts made by local artists of the Kimberley and lacquer wear that reflects the traditional designs that artists receive royalties for licensed use of their designs.
