Uwankara Kutju
20/05/2010 to 06/06/2010
The Anangu of Indulkana have special ties to totemic sites in the area and paint their connection to it. Iwantja artists use symbolism from their own individual Dreaming path. Each painting represents not only the site, but the event that took place there in the Dreaming. Sites may be specific rocks, waterholes, special trees, mountains and many others such as places where bush foods can be gathered.
Gecko Gallery in association with Iwantja Arts presents the exhibition, Uwankara Kutju - everyone together, a collection of vibrant new paintings and etchings by the Pitjantjatjara, Yankunytjatjara people of Indulkana, far north of South Australia.
