Glass and Paper

07/01/2010 to 31/01/2010

Gecko Gallery is proud to present our January online exhibition.

A selection of Indigenous fine art glass and works on paper.
The glass works include kiln fired and hot-worked forms presenting traditional shapes and symbols in a contemporary medium. Vibrant slumped coolamon forms featuring waterhole and emu feather designs of Summer Sanders. Artist Rachel Malthouse has created bold and detailed forms including sheilds with protection emblems worked directly into the hot lump crystal, poured molten from the kiln.

In paper we are featuring selected etchings by emerging and established artists from Papunya Tjupi, the recently established community art centre at Papunya.
These etchings were made during workshops in collaboration with Cicada Press at the College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales.
