Emily Cullinan
Born at Mimili in 1952, Emily whose language is Yangkunytjatjara, began working at the Granite Downs Station washing dishes while still young. She wasn't given any wages just food for the table. After having four girls and one boy she left them to be raised by her mother, as is tradition, and went to Uluru to work as a tour guide, showing people Anangu tradition and culture. Emily has taken up painting in her retirement years and uses strong linear elements that describe the totems and Dreaming stories of her country near Indulkana
