Earth and Sky

The selected works in this online exhibition show the strong connections to country and the star systems that appear in Indigenous contemporary art. These are visual metaphors of ceremonial and ancestral ‘Jukurrpa’ or Dreamings that have evolved from centuries of oral rendition to a contemporary expression of paintings on canvas.

Represented are Warlpiri people of Yuendumu and Luritja and Pintupi people from Papunya and associated country as far as Kintore in the Tanami Desert and Kiwikurra in Western Australia.
