Dampier Peninsular

The Bardi people are associated with the Dampier Peninsular, particularly around One Arm Point. Artists such as Roy and his son Jeremy Wiggan are residents of this area and (in Roy's case) he and his father who is now deceased, originiated from Sunday Island in the Buccaneer Archipelago. One Arm Point which is traditionally named 'Bardi' is a coastal village in north Western Australia. Its closest capital city is D in the Northern Territory about 950km to the east-northeast about 1870km away to the south-southwest of One Arm Point. With a population of around 310, this is one of the smallest northernmost remote location communities in Australia.
