Anmanari Napanangka
Amanari was born in 1938 at Yateman's Bore. Her father was from Lupul. Due to the drought that impacted on the area they were living during the 1940s they were forced to relocate. As they travelled east her family travelled with others and close associations were formed.
Anmanari's family settled temporarily at the Hermannsburg Mission set up by Pastor Albrecht. Anmanari first began to paint following her marriage to Lionel Kantawarra Tjupurrula.
Anmanari is a senior law woman in her community and has been a key artist with the Ikuntji Art Centre for many years. Her tjukurrpa is the mulpu, the bush mushroom and during the past decade her paintings have been strongly sought after by Australian and International Art Institutions.
Predominant themes in Anmanari's works are the Mulu Tjukurrpa and the dancing women at Kungka Yunti.
