Janganpa Jukurrpa
The custodians or 'kirda' of the Janganpa Jukurrpa (Brush Tail Possum) are Japaljarri/Jungarrayi men and Napaljarri/Nungarrayi women. Jupurrula/Jakamarra men who are considered 'ceremonial police' of this knowledge. Janganpa are nocturnal animals that often nest in hollows of white gum trees 'wap;unungka'. In traditional Warlpiri iconography, wavy lines and 'E' shapes are used to depict the tracks that the Japangka felt as he moved around.
