Tapping Sticks

Tapping Sticks
Tapping Sticks
Tapping Sticks are percussion instruments used to maintain rhythm in Indigenous dance and singing during ceremony and story telling. Depending on how the sticks are positioned in the hand the sound will vary in pitch and tone from soft to a loud metallic noise that at times replicates bird and animal sounds.
These tapping sticks are made by the artists at Warlukurlangu Artists of Yuendumu in the Tanami Desert and range from small to large in size.
