Old Woman
Jane Yalunga says; 'This story is about an old woman. She came to my father (Rover Thomas) in a dream, this is one part of that story." The story of the old woman was part of a dream that Rover Thomas had in the mid 1970s about a woman's spirit travelling to the alter-life through sacred sites across the Kimberley. The dream was interpreted by Rover Thomas and his uncle Paddy Jaminji, painted on ply-wood boards with natural ochres and spinifex gum as a binder. The boards were used in he Gruill Gruill corroboree, a pulbic ceremony that is still performed today. Jane Yalunga is the custodian of this ceremony since her father passed away.
